Wreckfish

Polyprion americanus, Wreckfish, stone bass, a big Atlantic fish, underwater life

Wreckfish are a family of bottom-dwelling saltwater fish which can be found across the globe. Wreckfish get their name from the shipwrecks they tend to inhabit. They are notoriously hard to catch, but the reward is worth it. Their meat is flaky and firm, with a mild flavor not unlike grouper. This makes it a very versatile fish that can be prepared in a variety of ways. Our wreckfish are caught in Uruguay and sold fresh as fillets. Call for availability.
