Mussels

Mussels

Mussels (P. canaliculus) are a type of bivalve mollusk which reside in coastal New Zealand. They are both farmed and wild-caught. The farming method is interesting and unique to mussels. Mussels are grown attached to ropes which extend into the sea, dangling from rafts. Mussel meat differs based on the gender. Males have white flesh while females have orange flesh. This has no effect on the flavor, which is sweet and delicate. The texture is soft and juicy. Our mussels are sold live or frozen. Call for availability.
