Monkfish
Monkfish (Lophius spp.) is a species of anglerfish native to the northern Atlantic. It is typically brown in color and characterized by its large, gaping mouth that stretches across the entirety of its head. It also possesses a dorsal spine near the front of its head which it uses to lure prey. They are found in very deep water and are often caught as bycatch from scallop fishermen. Monkfish fillets are off-white in color and have a taste that resembles lobster. Our monkfish are sold both fresh and frozen as fillets. Call for availability.
