Catfish
Channel catfish (I. punctatus) is a small freshwater fish native to the U.S. They are on the smaller side of fish, with the average specimen weighing around 5 lbs. They are characterized by their smooth skin, sharp spines, and barbels protruding from around the mouth. Its fillet is white and very mild in taste. It is often fried. Our catfish are farmed in the U.S. and sold fresh or frozen. Fresh catfish can be bought as 2/3, 3/5, 5/7, 7/9, or 9/12 oz fillets. Frozen catfish come in the same variety but can also be bought as nuggets or strips. Call for availability.
