Black drum (P. cromis) is a saltwater fish native to the Atlantic coast and Gulf of Mexico. It is a high-backed fish that is dark gray in color, possessing black vertical stripes along its back. Its fillet is flaky with color ranging from light to dark pink. It is not a very flavorful fish, so it works well as a blank canvas to add any kind of seasoning to.
